She has special interest in labor, economic, education and environmental reporting, and her work has won national and regional awards. Olivia earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in creative writing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is a past president of Alabama Media Professionals and currently chairs the organization’s News Literacy Committee.
