What you need to know for November’s election in Alabama

Voters will go to the polls Nov. 3 with much on the line for the state of Alabama. The race for governor between Republican Tommy Tuberville and Democrat Doug Jones tops the ballot. Voters also will make picks for statewide offices such as lieutenant governor, attorney general and public service commission, along with who will represent them in the Alabama State House. There are constitutional amendments, too.

In Jefferson County, voters will decide a contest for sheriff. They’ll also choose a county commissioner in the one race that is contested.

At the national level, control of Congress is at stake. All seven of Alabama’s seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, plus one seat in the Senate, are up for grabs.

Our partners at BirminghamWatch have published a round-up of key deadlines, ways to find district and polling information, and the Jefferson County sample ballot.

The Alabama Reflector offers an overview of state races and constitutional amendments.
