Q with Jian Ghomeshi - Jan Lisiecki
Tonight on Q with Joan Ghomeshi, "Truth Alone Prevails" is the new Indian TV talk show hosted by Bollywood star Aamir Khan, presented in the vein of "Oprah". Guardian reporter Helen Pidd explains how the show uniquely covers taboo subjects in India -- like female foeticide, domestic violence, the dowry system, and 'untouchables' -- which the rapidly westernized society might like to believe it had left behind.
And later in the hour, what's it like growing up as a classical piano prodigy in Calgary? Jan Lisiecki sits down for a feature interview and performance in Studio Q. He's recently become the youngest musician signed to the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label, where he's released his debut album Mozart Piano Concertos Nos. 21 & 22.
And finally, in wake of the recent furor around comedian Daniel Tosh's audience member-directed rape joke, Jian revisits his conversation with UK feminist Laura Osmond. She discusses her fight against Facebook for their defense of user-posted rape jokes. Some defend them as mere humour, others as a matter of freedom of speech. She -- and 200,000 others who've signed a petition -- call it hate speech against women.
