Spring 2013 Fund Drive: Listen & Be Transported

WBHM's Spring 2013 Fund Drive will be April 17-27. Last year we were overwhelmed by the awesome dedication of our members and look forward to your continued support this year.

Listen & Be Transported

We are very excited to announce that through the efforts of our Junior Advisors, we have partnered with local artist Bethanne Hill to create a custom and public radio-inspired “Listen & Be Transported” painting for the station, which approaches community engagement by encouraging people to “Listen and Be Heard” and through efforts such as the successful Radio Clinic and popular Issues & Ales series.

The art will be featured on a glass given as a thank-you gift from the station for contributions of $90 or more.

Read more about Bethanne, the inspiration for her paintings, and why she loves WBHM. You can also see the design for the pint glass, which will be available beginning April 17!

Also during the station’s Spring 2013 Fund Drive, WBHM will continue its tradition of welcoming key community figures as guest hosts, including Hill to talk more about how public radio inspires her art.

New UAB President Ray Watts, M.D., also will be in the studio, along with Shirley Salloway Kahn, Ph.D., UAB vice president for Development, Alumni, and External Relations. Other guests include Sanjay Singh, partner and vice president of Business Development, CTS; Isabel Rubio, executive director of the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama; Jason Wilson, founder and president of Back Forty Beer Co.; André Natta of The Terminal; and members of WBHM’s Friends and Junior Advisors boards. A complete list of our Spring 2013 Fund Drive guests is below.

You can make your donation in honor of one of the guests or the station in general and give us your feedback on our programming and stories/topics you think we need to be covering. And when you do, thanks!
