October is a month of change, transition, and tradition. For WBHM and NPR, that means the familiar sounds of the Fall Fund Drive will be in the air and on the air October 10-20, and that one change we hope for is the transition of thousands of listeners into active supporters of public radio.
This summer through The Radio Clinic, we asked you to share your opinions, interests and wishes with WBHM in a way we had never done before. Listen and Be Heard will continue to be a new way of thinking and behaving, crucial to WBHM, a listener-supported service of UAB, and NPR as we work to be vital and relevant for you and the community in the future.
With an October membership drive before us, it also will be important to connect the pieces, the listeners and the resources together. Whatever you can give to support WBHM will make a difference. Whatever support you can encourage from others will help us all make WBHM even more important, responsive and valuable for the future.
WBHM's budget calls for $750,000 in listener support in 2012. We need to raise $300,000 to meet that goal. While we are confident of raising those dollars, we are also eager to gain more interest from listeners who have never contributed before, and welcome back donors who haven't contributed for a while.
As we work to raise the final $300,000 to support WBHM and NPR this year, you'll be encouraged along by some familiar voices from the station and our community. (Click here for a schedule of our Fall guests.) We hope you will tune in and join us in a celebration of service, civic engagement and fun!
Make your pledge now, and while you're there, give us your feedback on our programming and stories/topics you think we need to be covering. Thanks!
