Alabama Economy

The economy continues to dominates news headlines. Ten million homeowners are having trouble making their mortgage payments. People who track the housing industry say another wave of foreclosures is on its way. Alabama's bankruptcy rate is among the highest in the country. Gas prices have stabilized, but high food prices continue to strain family budgets. Tonight at 6:30 on WBHM we discuss all this and more during On The Line: Making Do.

Mike Tomberlin has been covering real estate in the Birmingham area for more than 15 years, the last 10 at The Birmingham News. There was a one-year break where he served with the Alabama Army National Guard in Afghanistan. As the commercial real estate and economic development reporter, Mike's stories can be found on the front page and the Money page on an almost daily basis with articles relating to projects and deals. Mike graduated from the University of Alabama with journalism degree in 1992. He is originally from Covington County in south Alabama.
