BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Public Radio WBHM 90.3 FM has announced the 2012-2013 membership of its Friends of WBHM community advisory board.

The role of the Friends is to give the station a voice in the community promoting public radio and its mission in North Central Alabama. WBHM’s programming also is aired on WSGN 91.5 FM.

Chairing the board will be Kristi Lamont Ellis, the station’s interim general manager and UAB assistant vice president of public relations and marketing. Additional officers will be elected at a later date.

Other board members are: Michelle Adamo, community volunteer; UAB Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Velinda Block; Metro Monitor President Bryan Council; Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Senior Financial Advisor Phillipe Lathrop; Elyton Partners Principal Bob Loftin; Nick Patterson, owner, Nick Patterson Freelance Communications; Jim Shaw, partner, Huie, Fernambucq & Stewart, LLP; Barbara Saurer, community volunteer; Barbara C. Sirmans, president, Statewide Enterprises, LLC; Mary Laura Stagno, community volunteer; Sharon D. Stuart, partner, Christian & Small Attorneys and Counselors; and Tinsley Van Durand president, Lawler Ballard Van Durand MarketingǀAdvertisingǀDesign.

Ex-officio members of the board are Dale Turnbough, UAB associate vice president of public relations and marketing; Rebecca Gordon, UAB associate vice president of development; and Mary Hendley, WBHM director of development.
