American RadioWorks

American RadioWorks (ARW) is the highly esteemed national documentary unit of American Public Media. Hosted by Stephen Smith, ARW creates documentaries, series projects, podcasts and online content for the public radio system and the Internet. ARW currently covers education issues focusing on critical issues in K-12 and higher education.

Stephen Smith

Smith reports on a wide range of international and domestic issues, including human rights, science and health, race relations and American history. He is co-creator of American RadioWorks, the largest documentary unit in public radio, as well as winner of the duPont-Columbia University Gold Baton and many other national journalism awards. Smith is a graduate of Macalester College and holds an M.A. from the University of Chicago.
