Gainer

Somewhere between not-quite-punk rock and not-quite-pop lies Gainer -- a foursome just waiting to give you a new case of mosh neck from nodding along. If this were the 70s, you'd need a camaro; if it were the 80s, you'd be shredding on your board to it. But the dawn of the new millennium, the rock that Gainer unleashes seems a little out of context. Somewhere to the left of Jimmy Eat World pop bands, to the right of the East Bay punk scene, and somewhere underneath the big, big rock of the late 70s lies the sound that Gainer has crafted -- a blend of driving, punk-rooted rock with sing-a-long vocals and a bitter mix of personal and political lyrics. The group is currently working on a new CD.
