The Grenadines began at Hotel Birmingham, a warehouse in Birmingham's downtown district. It was here that the first three members Lauren Strain (vocals), John David Wheelock (lead guitar), and John Cook (rhythm guitar), spent many nights collaborating ideas and melodies. After just a few months, they began to play shows around Birmingham and Tennessee.
Recently, they traveled to North Alabama to record their first songs with producer, Lynn Bridges, who has recorded such artists as Devendra Banhart, The Immortal Lee County Killers, and The Dexateens. The Grenadines music could be described as a psychedelic rock and roll trip. It's sometimes slow and droning ands sometimes upbeat.
The current lineup includes Lauren Strain (vocals), John David Wheelock (lead guitar), John Cook (rhythm guitar), Macey Taylor (keyboards), Kiley Jackson (bass), and Zach Evans (drums). The Grenadines anticipate the release of their first CD early next year.
