Tapestry, from 90.3 WBHM

Q: What is changing?
A: Tapestry, WBHM's local arts and culture program, is changing from a 30-minute weekly program to an hour-long monthly program.

Q: When can I hear Tapestry?
A: Starting Friday, July 3rd, Tapestry will be heard on the first Friday of every month at 12 p.m. It will be rebroadcast the next day (Saturday) at 11 a.m. The show will continue to be available online including streaming and podcast. You can manually subscribe to the podcast here or via the iTunes music store.

Q: Why are you making this change?
A: We want to ensure that Tapestry is the strongest and highest quality program possible. After careful consideration, we concluded that producing the best program possible with our current resources means not producing a weekly program. In over four years of producing Tapestry, we found the program to be inconsistent week in and week out. In its current form, Tapestry is more events oriented, heavy with interviews and has fewer stories and sound rich features. While we don't envision abandoning the interview at all, we want to achieve a better balance between interviews and produced features. The new format will give us the opportunity to focus on themed shows as well as produce shows with lasting resonance.

Q: Why are you changing the time?
A: We have found that most of WBHM's listeners (approx. 88 percent) are unavailable Thursday nights. In fact, more people listen to the rebroadcast on Saturdays. Airing Tapestry at noon on the first Friday of the month allows more people to hear the program.

Q: I have an event coming up and was counting on being on Tapestry to promote it...
A: We do not see Tapestry as an outlet to garner publicity or sell tickets. That said, the new incarnation of the program will still contain a segment featuring events going on around town. This will be produced in a more creative way and not limited to just interviews.

Q: What about Fresh Air on that particular Friday?
A: On Fridays, Fresh Air is an archive edition (i.e. rebroadcast). The program is still available online via streaming or podcast.

Q: What will happen with Says You! on Saturdays during the other weeks of the month?
A: On the first Saturday of the month, Tapestry will air from 11 a.m. to noon - there will be no Says You! on that day. On all other Saturdays of the month, Says You! will be an hour long starting at 11 a.m. This will be in addition to the 30-minute broadcast of Says You! heard Fridays at 6:30 p.m..
