WBHM and Vehicles for Charity Create a Unique Giving Opportunity

People support WBHM in many different ways: by pledging during membership drives, reading for the Alabama Radio Reading Service . . . or donating their cars, boats, RV's and motorcycles.

WBHM recently joined forces with Denver-based Vehicles for Charity (VFC) to give listeners a new way to support public radio. If you have a usable but unwanted vehicle, call Vehicles for Charity, toll-free, at 1-877-308-2408 to arrange to have the vehicle picked up, or click here. For more information on how the program works, go to the Vehicles for Charity website.

VFC will then arrange to have the vehicle auctioned. WBHM will receive 70% of the net proceeds. The other 30% goes to VFC's partner, Denver's ARC, a group that provides advocacy and support services to individuals with disabilities and their families.

According to WBHM General Manager Mike Morgan, "By donating your car, truck, boat or motorcycle to WBHM you help us continue to provide programming and services that enrich the lives of North Central Alabamians. With one phone call everything will be taken care of and you receive a tax deduction for your donation."

Vehicles for Charity partners with numerous public broadcasting outlets across the country, including stations in Denver, San Antonio, Colorado Springs, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Salt Lake City and Nashville. "The vehicle donation program has proved to be a real winning fund-raiser for everyone concerned," said Dennis Fadden, Director of Corporate Alliances for VFC. "It helps the donor by providing them with an alternative to trading in a car or truck and at the same time gives them a tax-deductible donation. It helps the station by turning the cars and trucks into much-needed cash, which in turn helps the station to continue to provide the audience with quality programming, and the donations help children and adults that have developmental disabilities lead more normal lives. Everybody wins."

Note: Vehicles for Charity reserves the right to turn down vehicles if, in their experience, the vehicle will cost more to process than can be gained in sale.
