SEVERE WEATHER PROMPTS EARLY DISMISSALS

Severe weather is expected to pass through North Central Alabama this afternoon, causing early dismissal for area schools:

CLOSING EARLY


UAB classes and normal campus operations will be suspended for the day as of 2 p.m. due to the risk of severe weather. UAB Medicine will operate normally for patients.


Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind - No local or area buses will run.

Alabama School of Fine Arts - Closing at 1 p.m.

Alabama Waldorf School - Closing at 1 p.m.

Altamont School - Closing at 12:30 p.m.

Anniston City Schools - Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. Anniston High will dismiss at noon. Anniston Middle will dismiss at 12:15 p.m.

Attalla City Schools - Dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

Bessemer City Schools - Elementary and middle schools closing at 1 p.m. High schools close at 1:30 p.m.

Birmingham City Schools - Elementary, middle and K-8 schools will close at 1 p.m. High schools will close at 1:30 p.m.

Blount County Schools - Closing at noon

Calhoun County Schools - Calhoun County schools will dismiss two and a half hours early.

Chilton County Schools - Closing at noon

Clay County Schools - Dismissing two hours early.

Cleburne County Schools - Dismissing two hours early.

Coosa County Schools - Dismissing at noon.

Coosa Valley Academy - The academy will be closed.

Creative Montessori School in Homewood - Closing at 12:30 p.m.

Cullman City Schools - Closing at 11:30 a.m.

Cullman County Schools - Dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

Etowah County Schools - Dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

Fairfield City Schools - Dismissing at 1 p.m.

Gadsden City Schools - Dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

Gadsden State Community College - Closing at 1 p.m.

Gadsden - All Etowah Youth Orchestra, Downtown Dance Conservatory and School of the Arts activities at Center for Cultural Arts cancelled Thursday afternoon.

The Gathering Place Christian Academy - Closing at noon.

Hoover City Schools - Dismissing three hours earlier than their normal dismissal time. Buses will run regular routes. After school activities are canceled.

Homewood City Schools - Dismissing at 1 p.m. After school activities cancelled.

Indian Springs School - Closing at 11:30 a.m.

Jacksonville Christian Academy - Dismissing at noon.

Jacksonville City Schools - Jacksonville High School will dismiss at 12 noon. Kitty Stone Elementary will dismiss at 12:45 p.m.

Jasper City Schools - Dismissing at 11 a.m. Buses will run.

Jefferson County Schools - Dismissing at 1 p.m.

Jefferson State Community College - Closing at 1 p.m.

Kingwood Christian School - Dismissing at 1 p.m.

Lawrence County Schools - Dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

Leeds City Schools - Closing at 1 p.m.

Mountain Brook City School - Closing at 1 p.m. After school activities cancelled.

Oxford City Schools - Oxford City Schools will dismiss at 12:15 p.m.

Piedmont City Schools - Closing at 1 p.m.

Pell City Schools - Dismissing at noon.

Samford University - Closing at 2:30 p.m.

Selma City Schools - Dismissing at 11:30 a.m.

St. Clair County Schools - Dismissing at noon.

Shelby County Schools - Closing at 1 p.m.

Sumiton Christian School - Dismissing at 11 a.m.

Sylacauga City Schools - Sylacauga City Schools will dismiss early -- Indian Valley at noon, Nichols-Lawson at 12:10 p.m., Pinecrest at 12:20 p.m., and Sylacauga High at 1 p.m.

Talladega City Schools - Dismissing at noon.

Tarrant City Schools - Closing at 1 p.m.

Trussville City Schools - Dismissing at 1 p.m.

Tuscaloosa City Schools - High schools will dismiss at 11 a.m., middle schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. and elementary schools will dismiss at noon.

Tuscaloosa County Schools -- Dismissing at 12:15 p.m.

University of Alabama - Suspending classes and operations at 12:15 p.m.

University of Montevallo - Closing at 12:30 p.m.

Vestavia Hills Schools -- All are closing at 1 p.m.

Victory Christian School - Dismissing at noon.

Walker County Schools - Closing at 11:30 a.m.
