Columbia Tragedy

Listen Now

90.3 WBHM | Birmingham -- When the Space Shuttle Columbia broke apart February 1, Dr. Larry DeLucas, like all Americans, was at a loss... But his loss was more personal than most. Dr. DeLucas lost friends... He lost the capsule that housed him in space for two weeks... And his UAB Center for Biophysical Sciences and Engineering lost several drug experiments as well -- research into Diabetes and HIV and AIDS medicines. For those reasons, he says he feels a bit out of place here at home right now... WBHM's Steve Chiotakis spoke with Dr. DeLucas about the Columbia tragedy.
