Weather Delays Schools


90.3 WBHM A big storm system is moving through west, north central and north Alabama this morning, prompting weather warnings and school delays. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook from Montgomery County north, including the Birmingham-metro area, Tuscaloosa and Gadsden. Severe thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes are possible, but the main concern will be damaging straight line winds. Guests of up to 35 miles per hour are possible throughout the region. Highest elevations in eastern and northeastern Alabama could see gusts of up to 50 mph.

Dozens of Alabama schools, including most in the Birmingham-metro area, are opening late today. UAB classes and normal operations will be suspended until 10 a.m. UAB Medicine will operate normally for patients.
