WBHM's Bradley George spoke with Birmingham-Southern political scientist Natalie Davis about her reaction to Pollick's resignation. Kyle Whitmire of The Second Front has been reporting on Birmingham-Southern's financial woes (he's also an alum). Whitmire says Pollick's resignation wasn't the only news to come out of Wednesday's board of trustees meeting. ~ Bradley George, August 11, 2010 |

Birmingham-Southern College president David Pollick has resigned. The college's board of trustees accepted his resignation after revelations of overspending and accounting errors at the school. Earlier this year, Birmingham-Southern announced plans to cut 10 million dollars from its budget, as well as eliminate nearly 30 faculty positions and more than 50 staff. In a statement, Pollick said the focus of the financial crisis is entirely on him and that a creative and constructive process needs to take place to ensure Birmingham-Southern's future. Pollick's resignation takes effect immediately. Provost Mark Schantz will serve as interim president.
